VIDEOS 2009
Here's a video of Gigi catching and throwing. I
compared it to one of my favorite Olympic
players Lauren Lappin, who is also a coach at
Northwestern University now.
NOTE: If it's a low
pitch, you may have to turn your mitt over,
what I mean here, is for NON- low pitches.
I put together videos for two reasons. ONE, I think it helps people to improve, when they can see themselves and  TWO, it helps me to
learn, so I can be a better coach.

I want to make this perfectly clear.
We are NOT making fun of anybody here. These videos are meant to help people improve.
Here is a video of Katie. This is a good lesson
on the inward turn, which is kind of like the
back swing in golf. We go back before we go
forward.
Here's a video of Katie bunting and it explains why we need to bend
the knees to get a low pitch. It also shows how Crystyl Bustos from the
Olympic team, starts her swing early, and how she stops her swing
when the pitch is a ball.
Here's a photo of the pre-season defensive skills clinic. The girls did a
great job.
The photo of the girl shows a
"LEVEL" swing. She is trying to
swing the bat level.
Don't do that.

The baseball player and the
animation show the proper swing
plane. The shoulders, lead arm,
and bat are all in the same plane.
VIDEO #2- GOOD SWINGS ARE NOT LEVEL. Here's a video showing
what I think is one of the worst things that young players are taught.
They hear "SWING LEVEL". It's wrong, and it leads to bad, weak
swings. The video shows some top Olympic hitters and how they DO
NOT swing level.  The bat is NOT "level" at impact.

Here's a video showing Katie and Gigi and when they start their
swings. The Olympic and college players start their swing when the
ball is still in the pitchers hand. I have noticed that high school girls
tend to start everything too late.
4-10-09 Here's a before and after video of Katie after our first batting
lesson. We worked on the beginning of the swing. The LOAD, the
INWARD TURN, and the STRIDE, which all happen before you swing
at the ball. Then Katie proceeded to hit a ball so hard that she broke
my hitting screen. Nice job.
Here's a video of Katie pitching. It will play full speed and then play
again in slow motion.
Here's a different angle of Katie pitching. It will play full speed and
then play again in slow motion.
PART ONE: Here's a video of Carl
demonstrating the beginning of the swing.
Here we go through 1) The Grip 2) The
Negative Move            3) Creating Space.
PART TWO: Here's a video of Carl
demonstrating the rest of the swing. Watch
this after you watch PART ONE.
VIDEO # 1. This video shows the beginning of the swing. This is what
we are going to work on first.
Michelle here's your 2 bunts and swing from
the Niles North game. You are reaching on
your drag bunts.
This video shows when to start your negative
move and it also shows the proper plane that
the bat should travel. It's not LEVEL.
